The Golden Empire Krewe of Royals began as a non-profit organization founded in 2018 under the name Myind Builders in Houston Texas by Empress Myishola Matthews with a mission to promote the development of women from all walks of life. Over the years, our organization has grown significantly, and we are proud to celebrate our 5th anniversary of hosting balls and our first year of incorporating parades.
After the COVID-19 pandemic and with no remaining members living in Houston, we made the decision to relocate to Pensacola, Florida. Currently, we are in the process of reestablishing ourselves in this new location.
At The Golden Empire, we believe that through our efforts, we can make a positive impact on the lives of women around the country. Our organization strives to provide a space for women to connect, grow, and achieve their goals, as we believe that by supporting and empowering women, we strengthen the fabric of our communities and ultimately create a more equitable world.
Our group consists of members hailing from various states, including Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, California, Georgia, and Florida. We are truly a diverse group of women who come from different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. Despite our geographical distance, we remain united by our shared passion for empowering women and promoting their development.
Are you interested in joining the Krewe of Royals but not sure where to begin? Look no further than becoming a Lady in Waiting! As a Lady in Waiting, prospective members participate parades, balls, are invited to all krewe social events and are integrated into life in The Golden Empire.
This allows the Royal Court to get to know the prospective member and for the prospective member to understand if our Krewe is the best fit. After being a Lady in Waiting, successful candidates are invited to become Princesses after a vote by the Royal Council, and invitations are given at our annual Royal Tea By the Sea in June.
