Krewe of Priscus

History:

One of Pensacola’s newest krewes, The Krewe of Priscus was established as a not-for-profit organization with the sole purpose of bringing together men and women from all walks of life to celebrate the history and merriment of our great City of Pensacola with a special emphasis placed on the Mardi Gras Season.

About Krewe:

Our Krewe’s goal is to Magnanimously honor our ancestors who graced our streets and catalyzed the fibers of our city. Through our various endeavors of engagement, we will uplift our community and commemorate the cultivation of Mardi Gras in Pensacola.

Details:

1874 marked the beginning of Pensacola’s Mardi Gras with the first Knights of Priscus.  With the formation of our new Krewe, we wanted to embody the spirit of Pensacola’s historical past.  We’ve taken time to work with various leaders throughout our community on how to best represent our unique culture.

Pensacola’s first ever double decker tandem float was designed to encompass the legends and symbols of Pensacola’s heritage. Frisco, the downtown Garden Street train is the focus point of our Krewe and it pulls Palafox which represents historic buildings and colorful artifacts around our community.

Each year we nominate our Duke and Duchess to reign as Royalty for our Krewe and will represent our members at all Events .

Krewe of Priscus will have an annual Mardi Gras Ball benefiting 3 local charities that will be the first weekend of the official kick off Mardi Gras Season . All proceeds will go to support the charities chosen each year.
