Beta Sigma Phi

History

Beta Sigma Phi is an international sorority open to all females 18 years old and above. We were founded in 1931 by Walter Ross in Abeline Kansas. We are in every state and 33 foreign countries. It is more of a Sisterhood that cares about each member than just an ordinary club. Although Beta Sigma Phi is more than a Krewe, the organization has celebrated Mardi Gras with a ball since 1946 and participated in a number of parades.

Membership

Events

We sponsor a Mardi Gras Ball each year (open to the public but requires member sponsorship). City Wide Rituals for those members receiving honors and degrees. Preferential Tea to welcome new members to the organization. Various Socials, such as: Painting Parties, Card Parties, Pool Parties, Sunset Cruises, Theater Parties, and others.

Details

Currently, we have four chapters in the Pensacola area and looking for members to fill those chapters or to begin new ones. Each chapter has their own socials, service projects, money makers, and participates in various activities. There is a coordinating body, Pensacola Beta Sigma Phi City Council and is represented by each of the chapters. We participate in many activities as a city-wide group and plan those events with the City Council Representatives.

Charities

We supply tray favors for patients spending Christmas in Baptist Hospital. Chapters support various charities, to include but not limited to, Favor House, Kids House of West Florida, Safe Harbor, Washburn Center, First City Art Center, various animal rescue centers and other.
