After a weather-related cancelation in 2018, an ominous-looking forecast for March 3, 2019, had some wondering whether the same fate was in store. But the massive cold front slowed down at the last minute, allowing the Krewe of Wrecks to conduct their annual beachside celebration.
Krewes and parade-goers alike headed out to Pensacola Beach early to get a jump on the day, enjoying food and libations from the many beachside bars and restaurants as floats lined up in the Avenidas along Via de Luna for the westbound run to the Casino Beach parking lot.
The beach parade always seems to produce one of the most boisterous crowds of the season, and this year was no exception. With the weather change holding off, bikinis and board shorts were common sights among the screaming crowd. What wasn’t covered by clothes was quickly covered with beads, as the hour-long parade left all of the attendees laden with treasures.
