Krewe of Wrecks

History:

The Krewe of Wrecks formed in 1979 as a Section 501c(4) Corporation (social clubs), hosted our first Pensacola Beach Mardi Gras parade in 1980 and donates to various local charities. We are dedicated to making Mardi Gras on the island a community celebration that helps charitable organizations and local businesses in the off season. Hey, it’s just fun!!!

About Krewe:

Membership in the Pensacola Beach Krewe of Wrecks is open to individuals who are passionate about Mardi Gras traditions and want to participate in the krewe’s events and activities. KOW holds member socials every Monday from the middle of October to March. Come together with fellow members every week to stay updated on Krewe details and support our amazing island businesses. These gatherings are a great way to connect, share ideas, and celebrate the vibrant spirit of Pensacola Beach. We can’t wait to see you there!

Details:

The Krewe of Wrecks is one of Pensacola Beach’s most beloved Mardi Gras organizations, known for its lively spirit, colorful traditions, and deep ties to the beach community. Founded in 1979, the krewe celebrates the quirky, laid-back culture of the island with a full season of events—including the annual Wrecker Balls, champagne breakfasts, and the iconic Krewe of Wrecks Mardi Gras Parade, which draws thousands to the beach each year. Members elect a King and Queen Wreck to reign over the season, and the group is recognized for its playful pirate-meets-beach vibe, festive costumes, and dedication to keeping Mardi Gras fun, family-friendly, and uniquely “Pensacola Beach.”
