What is Second Line?
A second line is a beloved Mardi Gras tradition where a brass band leads a festive street procession, followed by dancers, krewes, and community members celebrating together. Originating in New Orleans, they’re known for their jazz music, colorful umbrellas, waving handkerchiefs, and crowd participation.
Second Line Tuesdays bring that same energy to downtown Pensacola. This weekly celebration builds excitement throughout the Mardi Gras season.
After the end of the weekly procession, visitors are encouraged to continue the celebration by visiting local restaurants, bars, and shops along Palafox Street!
