Pensacola Mardi Gras Kick Off Celebration
The Mardi Gras season in Pensacola officially begins with the Pensacola Mardi Gras Kick Off Celebration, an adored community tradition that brings together krewes, music, floats, and hundreds of revelers to

launch another exciting season. What began on a chilly night over a decade ago, a small gathering of a few floats and radio station vans along Palafox Street has grown into the vibrant celebration we know today. Floats line the streets and create a festive display that allows visitors to get fired up about Mardi Gras and set the tone for the season before it begins!

Once again leading this year’s Second Line processional are the renowned New Orleans Ramblers. Their New Orleans style brass music will guide the celebration through the float lineup while krewes and guests join the procession, dancing and celebrating in true Mardi Gras fashion.
One of the evening’s highlights is the escort of costumed krewes through the route. At the conclusion of the procession, clergy and community leaders will bless the floats and participating krewes along with a custom certificate that acknowledges their commitment, a tradition symbolizing the official beginning of the Mardi Gras season.

What would Mardi Gras be without King Cake? To mark the start of the season, attendees will be invited to enjoy slices of King Cake served free of charge and while supplies last. We want to give all a sweet start to the season.
The 2027 Pensacola Mardi Gras Kick Off Celebration begins at 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 2, 2027 inside Seville Quarter.
Following the Royal Processional, Mardi Gras royalty will lead a Second Line procession through the float lineup where clergy will bless the floats and participating krewes, officially launching the 2027 Mardi Gras season.
